- Multiple new roles advertised – with Volunteer Women’s Coordinators, Women’s National Team Managers, and Women’s National Team Physio/Athletic Trainer all required
USA Cricket is pleased to announce today the advertisement of a number of new women’s cricket positions to support the strategic focus in 2021 on Women’s and Girl’s Cricket set out in USA Cricket’s Foundational Plan.
Over the past few months, the Women and Girls Committee has been developing a three-year plan to engage more women and girls across all aspects of the sport. The Volunteer Women’s Coordinators will be key enablers to USA Cricket in its delivery of key activities and initiatives within that plan which will hope to increase growth in participation, deepen levels of engagement and improve performances. In the immediate short term, they will be responsible for supporting the delivery of a new domestic structure which will provide meaningful and competitive cricketing opportunities to women and girls across the country.
The women’s coordinators will work closely with USA Cricket and the current Volunteer Youth Coordinators to ensure that the programs and competitions help to deliver the objectives which are to be set out in the overarching plan and align with the evolving development pathway for cricket in the USA. Full details of the roles can be found here.
As part of this process, USA Cricket is looking for at least one coordinator (but possibly more) for each of the six Zones across the country.
Chair of the USA Cricket Women and Girls Committee, Nadia Gruny, commented, “We are very excited by the plans we’re developing to give women and girls more opportunities than ever before to participate as players, officials, administrators and fans, and to create a strong domestic system to support our national teams’ performances. We are looking for passionate and committed volunteers who will work with us to help deliver those plans and to support the new domestic structure which will feature for the first time, Senior and U19 National Championship events. The Committee has identified the huge opportunity to increase the number of women and girls who play and follow the sport in this country, and will ensure that we place that objective at the heart of our activities during 2021 with the support of the volunteer coordinators.”
The two other advertised positions will play important roles in establishing a more effective support environment around the USA Women’s Senior and U19 National Teams. The Women’s Senior Team, in particular, has an important year ahead of it as it is scheduled to participate in both the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup Qualifier in Sri Lanka in June-July, and the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Americas Qualifier in September here in the USA.
The Women’s Team Manager roles will be responsible for providing support across all domestic and international aspects of the USA Women’s Senior and Under 19 Team operations, including the monitoring and support of an effective and efficient high-performance environment for Team USA Women’s squads. Full details of the roles can be found here.
The Women’s Team Physio/Athletic Trainer will aim to foster proactive and collaborative work with other performance team members (team physicians, performance coaches, nutritionists, mental skills coaches, massage therapists) to achieve optimal health, well-being, and performance of the players; including in respect of injury prevention, rehabilitation, return to play activities, recovery, and performance enhancement. Full details of the role can be found here.
USA Cricket Chief Executive, Iain Higgins, explained, “We have been working hard to develop an integrated cricketing calendar for 2021 which we hope to launch in the next week or so. Within that calendar, we are anticipating more international and domestic cricket for women and girls than ever before. This includes separate National Championships for Senior and U19s, supported by an underlying new domestic structure that complements the existing domestic women’s competitions and events that are played each year, as well as high quality international competition throughout the year. The appointment of a team manager for both the Senior and Under 19 team and a physio/athletic trainer follows the recent selection of National Training Groups for Women’s Senior and U19s and the appointment of an Under 19 Coach, and is further evidence of our desire to make progress against our strategic objective of increasing the performance of our national teams.”
All roles are advertised with immediate effect and are open for applications from today, Wednesday 3 March 2021 and have a closing date for applications of Monday, 15 March 2021.
Full details of each with the role descriptions and required criteria are available on the Vacancies section of the USA Cricket website, which you can find by clicking here.
