USA Women’s Under 19s completed a highly successful tour of the United Arab Emirates for their Women’s Under 19’s bilateral series vs UAE Women’s Under 19’s last week with a thrilling final match victory to claim a 3-2 series win in dramatic fashion. The series of 5 youth T20 Internationals gave the two teams ideal preparation for the upcoming inaugural ICC Under-19 Women’s T20 World Cup taking place in South Africa in January 2023.
The series ebbed and flowed across the five matches after it started in spectacular fashion with USA winning the first match after not one, but two Super Overs! UAE then came strongly back into the series taking the next two matches by wide margins with Theertha Satish in particular playing a starring role at the top of the order. The change of venue away from the Oceans Fair Cricet Ground brought about a reversal in fortunes though as USA won a thrilling 4th match that was moved to the Dubai International Stadium.
The series then all came down to the final match with USA posting 153 for 6 from their 20 overs and holding their nerve with the ball despite another strong start from UAE to run out victors by 10 runs and take the series trophy.
Laasya Mullapudi & Ritu Singh led the way in the run-scoring charts for Team USA with 92 and 86 runs respectively. Bhumika Bhadriraju with 7 wickets was the leading wicket-taker from either side while Aditi Chudasama was second in the wicket taking stakes for USA with 4 wickets.
