The United States Women’s cricket team will end their tour of Australia with a visit to the iconic Bradman Oval and International Hall of Fame located in the NSW town of Bowral. The ground is named after Don Bradman, the greatest batsman of all time, and arguably one of the most dominant sportsman in history.
The Don grew up in Bowral, and it was while living here as a youngster that he invented his own solo cricket game, using a cricket stump for a bat, and a golf ball. This game has become a big part of the Don Bradman legend, and it is credited for developing his remarkable timing and reflexes.
The cricket ground and adjoining museum is steeped in history, and the honor to play at such an esteemed venue has not been lost on the U.S. squad.
“…the team is really looking forward to playing at Bradman’s Bowral on Friday April 6th.” – Coach Anand Tummala
After having an opportunity to explore the Bradman museum and International Hall of Fame in the morning, the team will play its final match of the tour against a NSW Select Women’s team starting at 1:30pm local time.
“Many thanks to Cricket Australia, Cricket New South Wales, and USA Cricket for organizing this tour and providing such world class facilities that only the best in Australia get to experience.” – Captain Shebani Bhaskar
