It was a difficult end to the week for Team USA Men’s National Team to their ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Americas Final Qualifier campaign in Bermuda as the hosts, Bermuda and Canada took the two qualification spots on offer to the Global Qualifier in the UAE in two months’ time.
In the fourth match of the week, it was must win for USA against the hosts Bermuda but despite having a good total to defend, the hosts came out on top by just 4 wickets in the final over to spark jubilant scenes of celebration.
After a big win powered by Steven Taylor’s Player of the Match performance over the Cayman Islands in Game 5, it came down to the final match of the week against the old rivals, Canada to have the chance to finish the week on a high.
Despite posting the highest team batting total of the week, USA’s chase fell away in the final overs after losing three quick wickets in the middle overs and came up just short to lose by 15 runs and leave Canada as the Champions of the Qualifier.
