Discovered by current USA Head Coach, Pubudu Dassanayake at the age of just 14 years old, leg-spinner Sandeep Lamichhane has taken the cricketing world by storm in recent years. After making his senior international debut for Nepal at just 15 years of age, he went on to play in the 2016 Under 19 World Cup and claimed a historic hat-trick against Ireland.

The last six months have seen him become one of the most talked about names in Associate Cricket after his superb bowling performances was awarded with ICC World Cricket League Division Two Player of the tournament in Namibia. He also made history by becoming the first Nepalese player to be signed for the IPL as Delhi Daredevils picked him up in January. Just last week he joined the six USA players in being drafted in the Caribbean Premier League where he will play alongside USA Captain Ibrahim Khaleel.

He’s currently playing for Nepal in the crucial ICC Cricket World Cup Qualifier and he spoke to USA Cricket from the squad camp in Bulawayo.

Here’s Sandeep’s answers to the #SixHitter questions.

1.Tell us how you got involved in Cricket, what’s your role/association now? 

I was a kid when i first saw cricket and got Fascinated by cricket.. Then day by day and I was growing up I thought of playing cricket for my country. Now I am playing for my country as a leg spinner!

2. Describe yourself in three words

Simple, Enthusiasts and Honest.

3. What is your earliest cricket memory? 

I used to play cricket with my childhood friends. Its gave me lots of memories

4. What is your favourite cricket moment of all time?

Meeting the legends of like Raju Khadka Sir, then Pubudu Sir then all the national heroes and got chance to play with them.

5. What is the one development you would like to see in domestic cricket, and in international cricket? 

I would like to see some good development in domestic games and at least there has to be some good grounds back in Nepal.

6. Where do see cricket in the USA in 10 years’ time? 

As an associate nation i want to see USA growing up to the next level.
