Shebani Bhaskar began playing cricket at the age of 11, while her father was serving in Kolkata. She grew up in an active household, regularly playing cricket at home and at the beaches until she was selected to compete in more serious leagues.
When Shebani was selected to the West Bengal U-16 team, she was the youngest player on the squad, and excited for the opportunity to take the next step.
One of her favorite aspects of cricket is how teams come together and form a unit, comprised of people from different backgrounds, stories and experiences. Shebani admires how such diverse people can come together to work towards a common goal. She also loves the unpredictability of the sport and believes that a game is never truly over until the last ball is bowled.
