USA Cricket is pleased to announce today the details of the final two rescheduled talent identification events for women and girls. Both events will take place in the West Zone, in the states of California and Washington, to complete the schedule for the cross-country talent identification hunt.
The two events, which were previously on hold due to local considerations connected to the COVID-19 pandemic, have now been rescheduled for the weekend of October 16 and 17 in the Bay Area, and Sunday, October 25 in Seattle.
USA Cricket is asking that all players who wish to register their interest, to do so here, by no later than midnight EST time on Wednesday October 7, 2020. USA Cricket has been in contact with those players who had previously registered to participate in these events earlier this year, and any such player must re-register again in full. Registration is open to players aged thirteen years old or above only and all of the talent identification events will be coordinated and overseen by USA Cricket officials.
Player and coach safety continue to be the main priority and USA Cricket is ensuring all events are run in line with our COVID-19 return to cricket guidelines and specific protocols for these events, as well as independent expert medical advice about how best to address the COVID-19 risks. Each event is being organized using the largest available indoor facilities and with strict limits on the number of participants permitted to attend each session. Among other precautions, participants are grouped to attend at an allotted time throughout the day; facilities are thoroughly sanitized between sessions and players are required to wear masks.
USA Cricket Operations Director, Richard Done commented, “We are pleased to be able to reschedule the final two events to complete the series of talent identification events for women and girls. Our focus has very much been on player welfare for all of our cricketing activity in 2020 and putting in place guidelines and protocols to ensure that all participants, coaches and volunteers are not put in any undue risk. The support from our local cricket communities has been terrific and October is shaping up to be an exciting month for women’s cricket in the USA. Starting out with the Plano, Texas event on October 11th and then moving on to San Francisco and Seattle for the following two weekends, we are anticipating three strongly attended events and some new and exciting talent to surface.”
