USA Cricket is pleased to announce today the names of 24 Volunteer Youth Coordinators who will help to drive the next phase of growth and development in youth cricket across the United States.
The 24 Volunteer Youth Coordinators are spread across 23 cities in 15 states that cover all of the six zones of USA Cricket, and they will play an important role in working to help encourage more boys and girls to play cricket in their respective schools and communities through localized programs and initiatives.
Their roles will be focused on encouraging more schools and communities to engage with USA Cricket’s National Entry Level Program, ‘Rookie League’ cricket, as well as working with the existing leagues, clubs and academies to increase the amount of opportunities for young cricketers within their zones. They will also provide operational support to the annual USA Cricket youth tournaments to be played in each Zone during the year.
The activities of all of the Volunteer Youth Coordinators will be coordinated by Jamie Lloyd, the recently appointed Development Manager for USA Cricket.
“The appointment of our 24 Volunteer Youth Coordinators is a really important step for USA Cricket to be able to achieve one of our key strategic objectives of increasing the number of participants in this sport. I would like to thank the large number of impressive applicants all of whom demonstrated high levels of commitment to developing youth cricket in this country, and it may well be the initial list will be supplemented with additional members in due course. The enthusiasm levels bode very well for the future and we look forward to working constructively with all youth cricket and initiatives as the year goes on.” said Venu Pisike, the Chairman of the USA Cricket Youth Committee.
All Youth Coordinators, who have all completed formal background checks, begin their roles with immediate effect following an introductory group video conference call today with USA Cricket’s Chief Executive, Iain Higgins, in which they discussed the evolving USA Cricket strategy and the core objectives within their roles, as well as the immediate task of carrying out a comprehensive base-line assessment of all youth cricketing activity that currently exists across the country.

Jamie Lloyd, USA Cricket Development Manager said “The gathering of accurate and complete information about youth cricket that is played in this country is extremely important for USA Cricket to be able to develop and deliver appropriate pathways and programs that best service and support the developmental aspirations which we have for the future. I would strongly encourage all those involved in any way in youth cricket to support and cooperate with the work of the Volunteer Youth Coordinators in this initial exercise so that their programs and efforts can be recognized and nurtured and we can build as complete a picture as possible of the current state of play.”
The Volunteer Youth Coordinators, who all have significant expertise and experience in youth cricket within the USA, have each committed to building constructive and collaborative relationships with all organisations involved in youth cricket in their respective zones and to acting fairly and impartially at all times and with the sole objective of increasing the number of girls and boys who play and enjoy cricket in their zones. They also acknowledged that they will not have any selection responsibilities within USA Cricket national teams or squads or any scope or ability to influence selection decisions at any level.
