Minor League Cricket (MiLC) can confirm that a player from the DC Hawks team has today reported a positive COVID-19 test result. There is no indication that the player caught COVID-19 at either of the Exhibition Matches in which the DC Hawks played at the weekend, but in accordance with MiLC’s COVID-19 protocols, all players and officials who have been in close contact with the player will now monitor closely for any symptoms, and undergo mandatory testing prior to engaging in any further cricketing activities.
The upcoming scheduled Franchise Exhibition Matches for the DC Hawks have also been postponed indefinitely. Additionally, their two opponents from Sunday 13 September, The Philadelphians and Empire State Titans, will also have their upcoming Franchise Exhibition Matches postponed as a precautionary measure and their players and support staff will also undergo mandatory testing.
MiLC wishes to re-emphasize that player, official and volunteer safety is absolutely paramount. MiLC is working closely with all teams to ensure that upcoming matches will only take place strictly in accordance with the COVID-19 protocols and with the safety of all stakeholders in mind.
A rescheduled set of fixtures for this weekend will be announced as soon as possible.
