A superb team performance led by captain Sindhu Sriharsha and a four-wicket haul from Uzma Iftikhar has given Team USA Women an unassailable lead in the ICC Women’s Qualifier Americas and sealed qualification for USA as the Road to Australia 2020 and New Zealand 2021 for USA Women continues.
With the ICC Women’s Qualifier Americas acting as a dual qualifier between Team USA Women and Canada Women, it means that USA take their spot in both the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Qualifier – taking place in Scotland between 31 August and 7 September 2019, where Team USA will join Bangladesh, Ireland, Scotland, PNG, Thailand and Zimbabwe and the ICC Women’s World Cup Qualifier 2020.

Canada won the toss and decided to bowl first and made an early breakthrough with the dismissal of Rendler, but a wonderful 2nd wicket partnership of 68 between the skipper Sriharsha and Chandhraseker brought USA’s total to 83 for 2 in the 15th Over and ahead of the game. Canada then fought back to restrict USA Women to 113 for 6 from 20 overs.
The Canadian chase showed early promise and the game was right in the balance at 49 for 4 at the half-way stage of the chase but a superb spell from Uzma Iftikhar and miserly brilliance from Claudine Beckford who bowled 3 overs for just 1 run helped USA close out the game and spark wild celebrations from the Team USA Squad and support staff.

The two sides clash again tomorrow in the 3rd and final match of the series on Sunday 19 May as Team USA look to close out a 3-0 series victory and stay unbeaten in Twenty20 International cricket.
