On January 23 and 24, USA Cricket met with the United States Olympic & Paralympic Committee (USOPC) in Colorado Springs, to kick off the process of becoming the certified National Governing Body (NGB) for Cricket in the USA.
In attendance were representatives from USA Cricket: Chairman of the Board, Venu Pisike; Board Member Nadia Gruny; CEO Dr. Noor Murad; Women’s Coordinator, Julie Abbott, and Men’s Team Manager, Kerk Higgins.
The orientation session covered a wide range of topics relating to NGB compliance standards, including governance, athlete safety, sports performance, financial transparency, code of conduct, conflict of interest policy, anti-doping measures, and more.
The USOPC presented an overview of the rigorous criteria and standards that are required to attain and maintain the NGB status within the USOPC framework.
USA Cricket’s Chairman, Venu Pisike, said, “Our participation in this introductory meeting with USOPC is a significant step forward in our quest to achieve National Governing Body status for Cricket in the US. We are committed to aligning with the highest standards of governance and compliance to ensure that cricket in this country continues to grow and thrive, and our national teams reach new heights.“
USA Cricket CEO, Dr. Noor Murad, added, “We appreciate the guidance and expertise shared by USOPC officials during this meeting. Their insights have given us a clearer understanding of the path ahead and the areas where we need to focus our efforts. We are dedicated to working collaboratively with USOPC to meet the necessary requirements and serve the cricketing community in the best possible way.”
