After 2 wickets each to Usman Shuja and Orlando Baker, and a sensational 3 for 11 from Asif Khan, Team USA found themselves chasing just 123 to beat Oman at the WCL Division 3 on this day in 2011. Conditions were clearly tough for batting though, as the side quickly slumped to 3 for 3, and then 6 for 16. When Orlando Baker fell at 8 for 52 the writing was on the wall.
However, Usman Shuja lead a remarkable rearguard action to shepherd his side to an unlikely victory. In cahoots with Asif Khan (31 not out), the pair added 71 unbeaten for the 9th wicket, easily the highest partnership of the match. Shuja’s 43 not out to go with his 2 wickets was a well deserved Man of the Match performance.
